Madrasah in Davao Oriental

On the second day of our stay in Davao Oriental, the DOSCST staffs have been so kind to took us to the Islamic schools around Mati City. The madrasah is oftenly called Madaris or Madrasto. It only held in Saturday and Sunday. The other days, the students will go to the public schools. This kind of madaris serves everyone, from children to the elderly.
The first Madrasah we visit was a Madaris in Dahican.
The Madrasah
It's located nearby the shore. So we talked with the Imam on the beach.
Me, the Imam and Mr. Yos
They said that they need Islamic books, especially about Islamic knowledge such as Fiqh, Aqeedah, and Da'wah. We didn't spend much time in this Madrasah because of the limited time and we have the closing ceremonial to be catched up, so we have to go back to the DOSCST soon. Thank you for Madam Galves for being so kind, bridging and helping us to communicate with the Imam.

On the third day, the DOSCST staffs kindly brought us to the next Madrasah: Madrasto Norol Hidaya Al Islamiyah, lead by Imam Sir Carlito.

In this madrasah, the school has the same schedule. Only saturday and sunday, and it'll be closed during ramadhan. In front of the madrasah, there was a Masjid where the students used to pray.
The last madrasah we visited has more facilities than the others. Unfortunately, it was no longer used.It is also located nearby the shore but the buildings were abandoned.

Davao Oriental State College of Science and Technology (DOSCST)

Another place to share knowledge about mobile programming. This school is located in Mati City, Davao Oriental, Davao.

This 10 hectares school is near by the sea shores and surrounded by beautiful beaches along the coastline.
In this school, we held a two-days workshop in mobile programming. On the first day, the students and lecturers were at the same workshop, learning about the basic way to make a mobile application using J2ME.
Regarding the needs of the teaching of mobile game development subject, we decided to run the workshop for the lecturer separately.
Because most of the lecturers are familiar with Java, the training held even smoother than we expected before. Unfortunately, we have only limited time and we had the closing ceremony on the next day after.
We hope this training is not the end, but as a starting point for the next cooperation between Indonesia and Philippines.
We are very thankful for all the facility, kindness and hospitality from the DOSCST staff, and all participants. Special thanks for Mr. Kapalid and Mr. Bernard who brought us here. Daghang Salamat. ^_^

DoToGo stands for Davao mObile TOurism Guide. It has the philosophy of DoToGo-Davao To Go. In this case, Davao as a destination, as an escape of daily routine. It contains breath-taking beautiful places in Davao. As its tagline, Davao- from Island to Highland, this region have specialities both from mountain until beaches.
